Maverick Minute - Summer Edition

Greetings in the name of our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ!

Thanks be to our Father in Heaven, whose faithfulness is from everlasting to everlasting.  As He reminds us in His word, we are all made new in Jesus:

Therefore, if anyone is in Christ he is a new creation. The old has passed away; Behold, the new has come. (2 Corinthians 5:17)

Summer has flown by incredibly quickly!  The faculty members and I are looking forward to seeing everyone soon, and are preparing for the start of school with great excitement.  There are several important announcements to share in advance of the upcoming school year.  Please be sure to read through the attached information carefully and call the office with any questions you might have.  Summer office hours (9:00 am – 4:30 pm) remain in effect until 8.11.17.  The office will be open from 8 am until 5 pm beginning 8.14.17.

Serving Christ with you,

Traci Backus, Superintendent

Building Update

As you are all aware, we have been praying for direction on a permanent home for our program.  The congregation at St. Matthew Lutheran Church and Holt Lutheran Schools have been most gracious hosts to us, but our program needs its own home to grow in.  We have researched sites for years, considering a variety of buildings and plans.  We are still in the exploratory phase of this process, with the current site under consideration being Plymouth Congregational Church.  Because there are many construction and financial issues still to be resolved, we will be remaining in our current location on the St. Matthew Lutheran Church campus for the start of school.  In the meantime, we are meeting with our architects to finalize site plans, Lansing Township officials for the appropriate approvals, and then our delegates from the congregations who are members of the Mid-Michigan Lutheran High School Association that sponsors us as they consider the budget issues involved in this venture. May God’s will be done in this process, so that we are faithful with the resources He has blessed us with! Remember: all calendar events, except where otherwise specifically noted, will occur at the SML campus.  Please call the office if you have any questions! (517.525.0116)

All students interested in basketball, at any skill level, are welcome.  These are NOT mandatory events, nor are they formal practices.  This is simply time to shoot some hoops and meet our new combined team friends from New Covenant Christian School.  Come meet the coaches – Nick Tuori and Andy Backus. Additional Shoot-Around events will be 8.6, 8.13, and 8.20 – all will be held at the SML/Holt Lutheran Schools gym. Hope to see you there! #GoMavericks!
